New Accel World Anime, Sword Art Online Movie & Game Announced!

It’s been a whirlwind of excitement for Reki Kawahara fans this morning, as a lot was announced at the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival 2015. We have a total of three different projects announced based on Kawahara’s works.

Accel World will be receiving a new anime, it’s inspired by, but not based upon, the Accel World light novels. The project is titled Accel World: Infinite Burst and will feature an original story written by Kawahara with new characters and returning characters Kuroyukihime, Haruyuki, Chiyuri and Takumu. Unfortunately, this does not appear to be the season two that fans have been eagerly awaiting, but it does inspire confidence in terms of quality if Kawahara is onboard.

Disclaimer: Details of the project are still a little unclear, we will report more on the project as details become available.

Sword Art Online has a new original film planned, with all the key players in the anime production involved. It’s also been confirmed via the anime’s official website that Reki Kawahara will be writing the story. So another anime original but with Kawahara involved expect good things, this of course, could lead into season three of the series. Dengeki Online streamed this announcement video earlier today, featuring highlights of the previous seasons and revealing the film project.

Sword Art Online also had it’s fourth game title announced Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, which will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. It’s due for release in Japan in 2016.
