ghostpia a Lo-fi Visual Novel Coming to Switch and PC in 2023

ghostpia, a picture-book styled visual novel is coming to Nintendo Switch and Steam this year as announced by PQube. Developer Room6 also recently announced the game will release in Japan for Nintendo Switch on March 23, 2023.

ghostpia is a kinetic visual novel meaning no branching routes or quick-time events. The game is designed to be enjoyed like a movie where you can immerse yourself in the story. A story filled with animation, movement and sounds to create a dynamic form of visual novel that elevates the traditional experience.

Featuring a distinct Lo-fi aesthetic and gentle music that crafts the atmosphere. The story centres around friendship and its struggles set in an isolated town separated from the world by snow. Filled with interesting and lovable characters from the protagonist Sayoko to the mysterious Yoru.

This release is a brand-new version of the game and the first time available in the west after the original was only released in Japan on mobile and web browsers. This updated version features higher-resolution illustrations, new music and more complex animations. Alongside including the complete five episodes of ghostpia Season One.


About the game
‘ghostpia’ is an immersive visual novel following Sayoko, the only foreigner in town. She is sharing a room with a mysterious girl Yoru but wants to go back to her hometown. She crosses the empty snowy desert searching, does this home exist? Can she remember what she has forgotten? All she can do is dream.
