Jujutsu Kaisen to go on Hiatus due to Author’s Health

Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump has announced that Jujutsu Kaisen will go on hiatus due to author Gege Akutami’s health condition. Word comes via the official Shonen Jump Twitter account, the series will go on hiatus from the 29th issue on June 21, 2021. The next chapter in the series will still appear in the 28th issue due next week on June 14, 2021.

While Akutami’s health condition is not covered in the announcement, Akutami’s handwritten note states the hiatus “should take around a month”. He also mentions his condition is not serious and his mental health is fine.

Jujutsu Kaisen began serialisation in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018. You can read the series in English both physically and digitally via Viz Media. You can also read the latest chapters for free via Shueisha’s Manga Plus service.
