Anime Limited have just announced their plans to bring another classic anime to the UK and Ireland for the first time on Blu-ray – Martian Successor Nadesico. Anime Limited are still in the process of locking down all the details on what the series will include but there is a rough idea of what to expect detailed in their latest blog post which you can read here.
The basic details, however, appear to be that this will be a Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray release with a Standard Edition likely to follow in 2018. The set will include the complete 26-episode TV series, the Martian Successor Nadesico movie “The Prince of Darkness” and the Gekiganger 3 OVA which has never seen a UK release. This will be spread across 4 Blu-ray discs and 1 DVD which will house the Gekiganger 3 OVA as no high definition version exists. Anime Limited have optimistically set a tentative release date of summer 2017.

Synopsis: “Akito Tenkawa doesn’t want to fight. Despite a childhood spent as a fan of the anime Gekiganger 3, a mecha show, he’d rather cook than pilot a mecha. Fate intervenes when his home on Mars is destroyed, and he is mysteriously transported in an instant to the Earth. He has questions no one can fully answer, but follows a girl from a chance meeting in the hope of discovering what has happened to him. The girl, Yurika Misumaru, is captain of the private battleship Nadesico, and in order to follow her, he enlists as the ship’s cook. Possessing the nanite implants that allow him to control mecha, he’s a handy backup pilot for the tactical mecha of the Nadesico, the Aestivalises.
