Previously released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, the much-acclaimed rail shooter bishoujo game finally hits for a PC release. The game developed by Inti Creates is the type one should never play with parents or children in the same room. Close those doors, wear headphones, and strap into Gal*Gun: Double Peace as players shoot hordes of love-struck girls into ecstasy.

Steam describes the series:
When Houdai is shot by cupid angel Ekoro, he becomes immensely popular and suddenly every girl at the academy becomes hot for him. But being irresistible is hardly a dream come true! Every love letter, shout of adulation, and advancing kisses drains his energy! And worse – if he doesn’t find his one true love by the end of the day, he will become cursed and forever alone!

As the protagonist Houdai, players have a variety of routes to choose from in order to romance the chosen girl or girls for a desired ending. When starting the game for the first time, most of the routes are locked, leaving only the sisters Shinobu and Maya the starting heroines. By achieving certain types of endings, more routes and content will unlock such as being able to romance the angel Ekoro, the devil Kurona, or even achieve a harem ending. The type of ending received depends on the accumulated affection level by the end of the route, which is determined by the choices made throughout the route. The availability of choices depends on the parameters of Houdai, which can be affected by various factors such as his selected starting personality or buying boosters from the academy store.

The individual routes are admittedly quite short, taking no more than a couple of hours to complete each, but there is a good number of them so achieving all the endings will require a good chunk of time. The story and development of each route are definitely not masterpieces, but at least do a good job in progressing the plot in this gameplay-driven game. Nonetheless, the characteristics of each heroine are quite distinctive from one another, so the story of each route will not feel the same as another.

The true gem of Gal*Gun: Double Peace is its incredibly high replay value as a rail shooter bishoujo game. As an incarnate of every man’s earthly desires, gameplay consists of Houdai shooting myriads upon myriads of love-struck schoolgirls with Pheromone Shots to fend them all off by making them collapse from ecstasy. Enough shots can activate Doki-Doki Mode where the girls can be fondled to give them further pleasure. There are also route-specific mini-games that tack on even more lewd scenarios.

Every level is different from the other so each approach for them is different. The game has a score attack mode to test how well a player mastered a certain map. But more importantly, collectables are scattered at every level, so exploration and trial and error are a must in order to collect them all. Collecting items can bring more variety to the girls’ wardrobes, view extra conversations in group messages, and also learning new information about these girls. There is a lot to collect, but thankfully gameplay does not get tedious when replaying levels.

The PC version of Gal*Gun: Double Peace allows for basic settings such as language preferences, text and movement speed, volume and screen resolution adjuster, etc. The game can also be played with a controller or mouse, but a mouse is definitely recommended, especially one with high DPI, to quickly aim at various parts of the screen.

Verdict
Overall, this is a very solid game, especially for those that want to play something on the raunchy side. Though the story could be fleshed out a bit more, for a lewd game such as this, it is more than sufficient enough. There are no complaints at all about the gameplay, with praise of its high replay value. For any rail shooter or anime fans, this is definitely a game to pick up.
