Altitude Films have released an extended clip of the English language version for Mary and the Witch’s Flower while also confirming that the film will release in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on May 18th.
Based on the 1971 novel The Little Broomstick by Mary Stewart, Mary and the Witch’s Flower marks the first feature film from Studio Ponoc. Directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, co-written alongside Riko Sakaguchi, music composition by Muramatsu Takatsugu and produced by Yoshiaki Nishimura the film features more than a few Studio Ghibli alumni.
“Mary and The Witch’s Flower combines an exhilarating tale with the unique richness, art and animation of Studio Ghibli-style storytelling, revealing the exciting and surprising adventure of Mary, an ordinary twelve-year-old girl. Bored and lonely during a summer holiday, Mary follows an odd cat into the nearby woods where she stumbles upon a flower and then a little broomstick. Together the flower and broomstick whisk her above the clouds, far away to Endor College – a school of magic!” (Altitude Films)
