Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV Uncovered event took place last night (or the early hours of the morning for some) and unveiled a host of new and exciting information including the release date, a demo, a mini-game mobile app, an anime and a full-length CG motion picture! Wow can’t say we expected all of that, I think Square Enix have done a fantastic job of re-hyping the game’s release after what has been a long and painful ten year wait for many fans.
We’ll keep this recap as short and as clear as possible, just covering the main points of the event. You can watch the entire Final Fantasy XV Uncovered video here on YouTube.
Release Date
We’ll start with possibly the most important piece of information and that’s the all important release date. For those that probably saw the leaked info by Gamespot before the Uncovered event it has been confirmed that September 30th 2016 is the official release date.
Platinum Demo
Next up we have the Platinum Demo – a free-to-download Final Fantasy XV demo where players will take control of a young Noctis and his magical guide Carbuncle as you explore a fantastical world of his dreams. The best thing about the Platinum Demo is that it’s completely FREE and available to download NOW! Find it here for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Brotherhood
Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV is a five-part animated series that delves into the extraordinary friendships between Crown Prince Noctis and his three comrades, setting the stage for the adventure players will set out upon in the action-packed RPG. Subsequent episodes in this five-part animated series will be released before the game’s launch. All episodes can be streamed for free and you can watch the first episode here!
Kingsglaive
Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV is a full-length CG motion picture that is told through the eyes of King Regis, while Final Fantasy XV follows the journey of Prince Noctis. The two tales entwine to weave a stirring story of father and son. The film also sheds light onto deeper discoveries of the game world.
The movie will feature the voices of talented actors/actresses such as Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister of Game of Thrones, Sean Bean and Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame. The movie will also be coming to Blu-ray and digital formats in 2016.
Justice Monsters Five
Who said there wasn’t going to be any mini-games in Final Fantasy XV!? well there is and it’s not just in-game either Justice Monsters Five is a brand new pinball game for mobile devices combining role-playing elements with some of the Final Fantasy franchise’s most iconic monsters. The game will be available to play in FInal Fantasy XV when the game launches in September but the mobile version will be coming soon and will be free on Android, iOS and Windows devices!
And now we’ll leave you with the latest trailer for Final Fantasy XV called “Reclaim Your Throne” which features a cover version of “Stand by Me” performed by Florence + the Machine.
Why not have another trailer while you’re here, again featuring Florence + the Machine, this Japanese trailer is a bit longer and features something very cool right at the end…a flying car! I think our excitement level just went over 9,000, okay wrong franchise but the feels are real.
You can pre-order Final Fantasy XV over at the official website where they have three different editions available, we’ll just leave you with an image of what comes with the awesome Ultimate Collector’s Edition!
