Welcome to the Spring 2017 season preview, here to help you decide what to watch this season and with so many series coming out each season it can be a daunting task. To help you even further we will be giving links to any simulcast that a series may have and will keep them updated throughout the season. You can also find our writers thoughts on select series that they are interested in.
This is by no means a complete list of every series airing this season, shows geared towards young children have been omitted as have OVAs and Movies. We have deemed it necessary for TV shorts to have their own season preview which will be available soon.
Alice to Zouroku

Nick: Initial impressions upon reading the synopsis I thought this sounded interesting but when I watched the PV I was meet with some rather awful CG. I’m still somewhat interested in the series but I think I’ll be waiting it out for a couple weeks to see what the general opinions of the series are before jumping in.

Nick: I have to wonder who isn’t excited for and planning to watch Attack on Titan season 2 this season. It’s been the most asked question since the end of the first season “when is season 2 coming?” and now it’s finally here. I’ll definitely be watching but I have to admit my interest in the series has waned a lot the recent chapters of the manga have not helped in that regard. From memory, it was pretty slow going after the events of the first season and I don’t think this season will match that same level of insanity without some major changes to the story.

Nick: I never managed to catch the theatrical screening of the Boruto movie so I’ll have to wait for the home video release for that. I have, however, been keeping up to date with the monthly manga chapters through the Weekly Shonen Jump app and it’s fairly decent. I’ll probably be watching to see how it goes but I’m not sure I fancy investing in a long-running series.

Nick: The premise of Clockwork Planet sounds really interesting but I’ve never been overly fond of Yuu Kamiya’s previous works so we’ll have to see how this one plays out.
The “new sibling romantic comedy” revolves around Masamune Izumi, a light novel author in high school. Masamune’s little sister is Sagiri, a shut-in girl who hasn’t left her room for an entire year. She even forces her brother to make and bring her meals when she stomps the floor. Masamune wants his sister to leave her room, because the two of them are each other’s only family.
Masamune’s novel illustrator, penname “Ero Manga Sensei,” draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very reliable. Masamune had never met his illustrator, and figured he was just a disgusting, perverted otaku. However, the truth is revealed … that his “Ero Manga Sensei” is his own younger sister! To add to the chaos that erupts between the siblings, a beautiful, female, best-selling shōjo manga creator becomes their rival! (Source: ANN)

Nick: I really don’t care much for “sibling romantic comedies” and actually find it a little weird but aside from the sibling dynamic Eromanga-sensei sounds like a fun series.

Gourai is a newly-developed prototype: a Frame Arms Girl equipped with an “Artificial Self,” an advanced AI that gives her a personality. Ao is the only one that has activated her. The novels’ story is set in a town called Sakurada, where almost half the population possess some form of special powers. The story centers on two high school students. Kei Asai has the ability to perfectly remember anything he sees and hears, while Misora Haruki can turn back or “reset” time for a maximum of three days.
Both students are members of their school’s “Service Club,” which their town’s administration bureau uses to observe people with powers and protect the peace. By using their powers together (Kei can remember things even when time has been reset), they solve cases for the club.
