Comic Con to host EU premiere of ‘Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin III’ plus Sunrise special guests

There’ll be mecha magic in the air at MCM London Comic Con this May, with the UK’s biggest pop culture festival hosting the European premiere of new Sunrise film Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin III. Comic Con will also welcome the series’ mecha designer and producer, Mika Akitaka and Osamu Taniguchi – both of whom will be signing autographs for fans and presenting a panel on the Saturday of the Excel London show.

An adaptation of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko’s best-selling manga, Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin III continues the origin story of iconic Gundam character Char Aznable and his sister Sayla Mass. Subtitled ‘Dawn of Rebellion’, this latest instalment of Sunrise’s flagship franchise follows the young Char and his future comrade Garma Zabi as they enrol at the Zeon military academy and begin the fight for independence against the Earth Federation.

Mika Akitaka has worked as a mechanical designer on a slew of Mobile Suit Gundam titles prior to The Origin, such as Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and Mobile Suit Gundam 0083, along with series such as Martian Successor Nadesico, A Certain Magical Index: Miracle of Endymion, Date A Live, Sakura Wars and Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector. As well as producing The Origin, Osamu Taniguchi’s credits include The Piano Forest, Lupin III (TV Special), Moyashimon and slice-of-life comedy Ramen Fighter Miki.

Blu-ray collector’s editions of the Gundam: The Origin films are distributed in the UK by Anime Limited. For the company’s full range of titles, visit: shop.alltheanime.com
