Dragon Ball Z – Questions Finally Answered

In Akira Toriyama’s latest interview he answered several questions that fans have been asking for quite some time.

He finally revealed Android 17 and 18’s real names, and the fact that they were once human siblings before being experimented on.18’s real name is Lazuli and 17’s real name is Lapis. He further revealed what happened to the Android’s after the Cell saga. We all know that Android 18 marries Krillin. However, Android 17 eventually makes a great living by becoming a park ranger at a nature reserve. He further marries a zoologist and adopts two children.

The next few questions focused around Mr. Satan (Hercule).

When Mr. Satan was young, he went to a dojo called Satan Castle and quickly became a world champion because of good luck and having a small fraction of power. The luck came from the fact his opponents were ill before battles, usually from food poisoning. Toriyama then discussed a little about Hercule’s history. One day Mr. Satan and his master made fun of Tao Pai Pai’s hairstyle (a character from the dragonball series). In retaliation Tao Pai Pai killed his master and left Satan injured. From this point on Satan decided to never fight anyone who’s identity he didn’t know or anyone that was extremely powerful.

The interview then went towards characters from the Buu Saga. The interviewer asked about how Majin Buu was created. In the manga it is stated that Bibidi made him. It seems however that Buu existed since time immemorial. Majin Buu would appear and create massive destruction and then hibernate for a long period of time. Bibidi just knew a way to awake Buu from his slumber.

The next character’s that were discussed were the Kaioshins. Toriyama revealed, that no one can become a Kaioshin you are just merely born one. He said that if a Kaioshin were to die then another one would grow like a plant in the Kaioshin realm. It is said they have a lifespan of about 75,000 years.

Perhaps the most interesting fact revealed in this interview was that Kaioshin’s and the gods of Destruction have never gotten along that well. But once every 1,000 years they go to each other’s realms and hold a coordination meeting. In one particular meeting there was a argument in which one of the god’s of destruction also called Beerus (seen the most recent film, Battle of Gods) sealed the Elder Kaioshin away inside a sword.

The final question was about Goku’s power, the question stated was: Goku endlessly keeps getting stronger, with Super Saiyan 3 in the manga and Super Saiyan 4 in the anime; does Super Saiyan keep getting limitlessly stronger too? Might we eventually see things such as a Super Saiyan 5…?
Akira answered simply that Super Saiyan 2 and 3 are just powered up versions of Super Saiyan 1. Goku realises after his fight with Beerus that he can become stronger by mastering his normal state and Super Saiyan. So he doubts Goku will need to become Super Saiyan 2 or 3 anymore.

The latest Dragonball movie, Battle of Gods will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 10, 2014 in North America and November 10th in the UK.
