Persona 5 US Release Will Feature English Audio-Only, No Dual Audio!

It has been reported by Siliconera that the upcoming US release of Persona 5 will feature English audio-only. The will feature English text along side the audio, Atlus have stated that the script “provides a faithful and engaging play experience.”.

While Persona fans will be used to not receiving a dual audio option it will still be a major loss. Being Atlus‘s biggest franchise it’s hard to see why they wouldn’t want to include the original Japanese audio. That said Atlus aren’t really known for making the right decision when it comes to there games.

We hope that with a English audio track they choose to drop the Japanese honorifics this time round. Persona 3 & Persona 4 featured pretty decent English casts the only downside to those were the awkward and continually annoying use of honorifics such as -chan and -kun. These work within the Japanese language but they just don’t transfer well into the English language without sounding awkward or forced.

At this point in time we can only assume that when a European release is announced we will receive the same treatment. Of course a European release would need to be announced though and we’re still in the dark as to whether we’ll even get one.

Persona 5 is set to be released in Japan on September 15, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 and in North America on February 17, 2017.
